Guiding principles

We care about building businesses that are effective, principled and sustainable.

Integrity sits at the centre of how we work. That means being clear about what is realistic, honest about risk, and willing to ask the difficult questions when something does not sit comfortably. Moral courage in leadership matters, particularly in smaller businesses where decisions carry real weight.

We approach operational structure with curiosity and creativity. No two businesses are the same, and we are more interested in understanding how your business really works than applying a standard template. The aim is to design proportionate systems bespoke to your business, that support ambition without unnecessary complexity.

We value accountability alongside psychological safety. Clear expectations and thoughtful governance create the conditions for people to do their best work.

There is always room for continual improvement. Strong foundations are not static; they evolve as the business grows.

About the founder

Hi, I’m Jennie, founder of Wilstone Consulting.

I have spent more than 15 years leading operations and people functions across professional services, luxury goods, FMCG, Industry 4.0, biotech and consultancy. My work focuses on building the operational and people infrastructure that allows growing businesses to function effectively and scale with confidence.

I began my early career in a US law firm in London, moving from Ops to HR during a merger with a much larger UK firm. I went on to hold operational roles in the diamond industry and FMCG before moving into founder-led technology and biotech start ups.

I joined an industrial tech start up as Operations & HR Manager, and then a biotech start up as Group Operations Manager where I was later promoted to COO. During that time I led the business through a period of growth and complexity and when the business ultimately closed, I led an orderly wind down, including the conclusion of my own role. In those environments I worked closely with founders, leadership teams, investors and tech talent, often wearing multiple hats as the businesses scaled.

I have since supported leadership teams within a long established water consultancy, an investment company turned AI native ventures lab and an FCA regulated wealth management business, working across strategy, operations, governance and people operations.

I hold a CIPD qualification, have trained in counselling skills and am a Mental Health First Aider. I am a member of several professional networks and regularly attend webinars, conferences and training opportunities. These disciplines continue to inform a pragmatic and considered approach to leadership and risk.

Across industries, what has remained consistent is my preference for small and growing businesses solving interesting problems, where the passion and ambition is strong and the structure needs to evolve alongside it.
